Bluffton blends small-town Lowcountry charm with the convenience of a growing community. The heart of town is Old Town Bluffton, a historic district of art galleries, local restaurants, shops and the Church of the Cross overlooking the May River. Many neighborhoods are close enough that residents get to Old Town by golf cart.
The May River shapes daily life here, from boating and paddleboarding to fresh local oysters and shrimp. Beyond Old Town, Bluffton offers convenient shopping, dining and medical services along the Buckwalter and Highway 278 corridors, and Hilton Head Island's beaches are a short drive across the bridges.
The calendar stays full year-round. The Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival fills Old Town every October, Mayfest brings arts, crafts and food to the streets each spring, and the Farmers Market of Bluffton gathers local growers and makers on Thursday afternoons. For schools, see our Bluffton Schools Guide.
