Moss-draped live oaks, marsh views, lagoons and abundant wildlife are part of everyday life, and the setting was even chosen as a filming location for The Legend of Bagger Vance. Quiet private roads and leisure trails are made for walking and biking, and nearby Victoria Bluff Heritage Preserve and The Rookery Preserve offer even more to explore.

When you own property here, you automatically become a full member with access to every amenity, under a single class of membership and one dues structure. The courses are not open to public play, though members may sponsor guests, and there are no food and beverage minimums. The club has been recognized among the Platinum Clubs of America and the Distinguished Clubs of America.
Golf is at the heart of the community, and Golf Digest has often recognized Colleton River as the top two-course private golf community in the country. The Jack Nicklaus Course is a classic parkland-style layout that finishes along the river, and the Pete Dye Course plays through forest and open wetlands with sweeping water views. A par-3 course, the Colleton River Golf Academy and a Golf Practice Park round out the golf offering.
Members dine at two clubhouses and their restaurants. The Dye Clubhouse, renovated in 2023, includes an indoor and outdoor veranda and a rooftop lounge overlooking the Chechessee River, and the Nicklaus Clubhouse overlooks its course and the river. A fitness and spa center and the Sports & Wellness Complex keep members active, and the Aquatics Complex has a Junior Olympic-size pool and poolside cafe.
The Stan Smith Tennis Center offers six Har-Tru courts, joined by pickleball, bocce and basketball courts. The community also has a dog park, a playground and leisure trails throughout.
With more than seven miles of shoreline and deepwater access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic, the water is never far away. Residents enjoy a community boat dock and day dock, a fishing pier, boat storage and beach access for boating, fishing, paddling and exploring.
Every home at Colleton River is custom built, so the architecture is beautifully varied, from Lowcountry and plantation styles to modern, Tuscan and French Country designs.
