Riverbend sits across Highway 170 from the main Sun City campus, behind its own gate, and has a noticeably quieter, more private feel. Homesites overlook the Okatie River, a tidal estuary that rises and falls twice a day, along with spring-fed lagoons, marsh and protected wetlands, so herons, egrets and other Lowcountry wildlife are everyday neighbors.

On the water

Riverbend's lodge, with meeting and gathering rooms overlooking the water, is the neighborhood's social hub, and the outdoor pool and hot tub sit right alongside it. Many residents enjoy a small-neighborhood atmosphere here while heading across the highway for golf, fitness classes and club activities.

Riverbend is known for custom homes, larger than most homes in Sun City and built on bigger homesites, alongside a number of original Del Webb models.
